    Description

Vintage Rogers Swiv-O-Matic Champagne Sparkle Drum Kit Complete with 13 Cymbals.
Beat out the tunes with (or without) the band on this highly-coveted drum kit. Now you have an opportunity to own one of America’s premier percussion brands and preserve musical drum history in the process!
This Rogers all Swiv-O-Matic, champagne sparkle drum kit is in very nice condition for its age. The highlight of the kit is the Powertone snare with eight bread & butter (b&b) lugs that was manufactured around 1963 at the Cleveland, OH, plant and was designed to use plastic heads. All the snare lugs have been upgraded to identical b&b versions supplied by Jim Petty of jp2creations in Bedford, TX, as well as some of the beavertail lugs on the other drums that were somewhat pitted due to age. All original lugs are included.
The kit is 100% Rogers, except for the very-new batter heads with tone control rings and the bass beater head (all Aquarian Performance II), the front bass head and logo, the aforementioned lugs, and plastic washers I added to the hoop tensioners (all the original steel washers are included). Bottom heads are clear Remo Ambassadors.
The champagne wrap is as nice as can be from this era.
As with champagne sparkle wraps on vintage Ludwig, Slingerland, Gretsch and Rogers drums, there is a chance of a “greening” effect due to the copper used in the color manufacture process. The drums that have some (very little) is the back side of the floor tom and bottom side of the bass drum. All drums have speckled interior coating, except the snare which is solid gray.
The bass drum has a Remo damping pad positioned at the inside bottom of the front logo head. Each tom has the Rogers chrome script logo in two places, so there’s the flexibility of showing the name depending on tom positioning. The snare and mounted toms have Tallboy hoops.

Note: the serial number label for the bass is partially covered by the double tom holder mounting bracket and the serial number tags have been modified on the Fullerton drums (the serial number portion of the Fullerton tags were cut off at some point and a number was written above them; the remaining tags indicate Fullerton origin).
    Cymbals:
The cymbals (9) and hi-hat sets (2) are all in fine condition with no egg holing at the bell, as I always used plastic sleeves on the stands (there is some very slight expected egg shaping on the 14” hi-hat top cymbal). All cymbals were purchased new by me. Some names were cleaned away over the years. Cymbal images are identified with corresponding letters. Comparable used-cymbal pricing is noted below (obtained from Musician’s Friend).

    :
Purchased a few years ago from new old stock, so it has seen little wear and tear. Extra leather straps are included along with a wood beater and an unused felt beater, and an original instruction manual.
    Stands (Hardware):
There’s some minor wear and tear from gig use, but very pristine for their age.
Cymbal stands are the heavy-duty Samson style.
All feet have new old stock rubber cushions (there are a lot of extra ones included).
    Hi-Hat and Clutch:
Again, what can I say? Pristine!
    Stick Tray:
The leather Rogers stick tray with holder is a hard find and is in perfect condition. Try to find one of these.
    Drum Bags:
Complete set of padded Gator bags.
    Carry Case for Stands:
Beato case with wheels for hardware (very small tear in fabric).
    Cymbal Carry Bag:
Tuxedo bag with up to 22” OD cymbal capacity.
    Drum Stool:
The Mapex stool is quite comfortable as compared to the original Rogers. An original stool is available but shows a noticeable amount of wear and tear.
    Extras:
Lots of sticks and brushes included, along with many extras (rubber feet for stands, snares, clamp-on head mufflers, etc.).
Shipment within the continental US only. Shipment will be via UPS in several boxes. Free local pickup.
Why am I selling? I’m well into my 70’s and the likeliness of performing again is quite remote. Kindly contact me with any questions. I will not sell any components individually - this kit is being sold as all or nothing. You can disburse items on your own if desired.
Make no mistake, there is some very slight rusting/pitting and slight drum color variations as described previously due to age. Considering these drums are 50 to 60 years old, they are in very nice condition. And quite playable!
